We embarked on an inaugural membership drive earlier this year, and there was a lot to do to get the wheels on the bus! We are immensely proud to announce we have new members!
Let me give you a little backstory…
First, we had to solve the following questions: What does it mean to be a member of MUS? Who can be a member? Who should be a member? What does "High Performing" mean? What does "Urban" mean? How do we define it? What does regular membership mean? What does affiliate membership mean? What about the founders, shouldn’t they have their own category?
These are just a few of the questions the Membership Committee and MUS staff grappled with over many months until we finally reached workable conclusions.
Then we considered all the workforce boards in DOL Region 5. We got input from our members until we had an exclusive list of boards we hoped to attract to MUS. It was a detailed and intentional process, and as the membership director, I could not be more delighted with the members who have joined us.
All of you will soon become familiar with these new folks and will find them as exciting as we did upon meeting them.
For clarity, there are three levels of membership:
• Founding Members: These are the original members. This number is finite and limited to the original 13 members.
• Regular Members: Urban workforce boards in DOL Region 5.
• Affiliate Members: Non-workforce boards, non-urban workforce boards, and workforce boards outside of DOL Region 5.
Without further ado, please welcome the new members!
We are honored to welcome back a Founding Member who was with us from the beginning! Employ Milwaukee has rejoined MUS. We could not be more excited to welcome them back into the fold. In fact, they will be hosting our next convening! Welcome back Employ Milwaukee and Interim Executive Director, Julie Cayo!
